True North Adventure Cruises has unveiled a $4 million refit across its fleet.
Both True North and True North II have been upgraded and are ready for a new season of exploration across Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Chad Avenell, True North Adventure Cruises Director, said the investment was about expanding what was possible for guests once out in the field.
“It’s about how far we can go, how flexible we can be and what that opens up for guests once we’re out there. At the end of the day, it’s about our guests, their safety and making sure they leave having had a once in a lifetime experience,” Mr Avenell said.
Aboard True North, the refit includes new engines and interior improvements, with select cabins now featuring an additional Pullman bunk for greater flexibility for solo travellers.
On True North II, guest areas have been refined and new adventure boats added to expand access to remote shorelines, shallow river systems and reef environments.

The 2026 season introduces two newly launched itineraries. ‘Kimberley Untold’ steps off the well-worn routes to explore remote rivers, waterfalls and sandstone gorges across entirely new areas of the Kimberley coast, after nearly 40 years of exploration in the region.
‘Navigate New Britain’ ventures into Papua New Guinea, pairing volcanic landscapes and rainforest coastlines with snorkelling and access to remote island communities.
Both vessels also return to the Great Barrier Reef, with the same focus on protection, scientific research and small-ship exploration that defines the True North fleet.
As the company approaches its 40th year of operation, the 2026 season reflects a continued commitment to access, flexibility and deeper expedition travel.
