Cunard has announced a landmark moment in its 185-year history, with all four of its ships set to gather in Liverpool for the first time.
Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Anne will unite on the River Mersey in Cunard’s spiritual home, where the company was founded in 1840, in what promises to be one of the most memorable occasions in the brand’s modern history.
Katie McAlister, Cunard President, said the gathering on May 16, 2028, would be an unforgettable moment for guests, the city and spectators on shore.
“Liverpool is where our story began and returning with the full fleet is a powerful celebration of that bond,” Ms McAlister said.
The last time Cunard ships gathered on the Mersey was in 2015, when three Queens came together for the brand’s 175th anniversary, attracting more than one million spectators to the city’s waterfront.
The 2028 event builds on that legacy, with Liverpool marking the occasion as part of a year-long program celebrating the 20th anniversary of the city’s European Capital of Culture designation.
Queen Mary 2‘s arrival will mark her first ever transatlantic crossing from New York directly to Liverpool and Cunard’s first eastbound arrival from New York to Liverpool in more than 61 years.
Each ship will offer specially designed Four Queens Celebration voyages.
Queen Mary 2 sails from New York to Liverpool, Queen Anne arrives following a Scandinavian and Northern Europe season, Queen Victoria completes a scenic voyage around the British Isles and Queen Elizabeth sails from Southampton via Le Havre.
Further details on 2028 voyage itineraries and booking dates will be announced soon.
