Qatar Airways has delivered a robust financial result for the 2025/26 financial year, reporting a post-tax profit of QAR 7.08 billion (US$1.94 billion) despite ongoing geopolitical and economic instability impacting the global aviation sector.

The airline group said the result highlighted the company’s operational resilience and financial strength, even as significant geopolitical disruptions affected the final month of the reporting period.

During the year, Qatar Airways carried more than 41.8 million passengers across its global network via Hamad International Airport, while its cargo division transported more than 1.43 million tonnes of freight, cementing its position as the world’s largest international air freight carrier with a 12 per cent global market share.

Operationally, the airline maintained an 86 per cent on-time performance, earning the prestigious Cirium Platinum Award for Operational Excellence and placing it among the world’s five most punctual airlines.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al-Khater said the financial year tested the organisation’s capabilities on multiple fronts.

“It is not often that a single financial year asks an organisation to demonstrate both the best of what it can achieve and the depth of what it can withstand,” Al-Khater said.

“These results speak to the strength of this Group across every measure that matters — a strong balance sheet, industry-leading operations, partnerships of real depth, and people who maintained the standards this Group is known for, even under the most demanding conditions.”

He also praised the airline’s workforce of 57,800 employees operating across more than 90 countries, particularly during the recent geopolitical challenges that affected global aviation operations.

Among the standout achievements during the year was a landmark fleet agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace covering up to 210 aircraft and 400 engines — one of the largest fleet commitments in commercial aviation history.

The carrier also secured the title of World’s Best Airline 2025 from Skytrax for a record ninth time, further reinforcing its reputation as a global premium airline leader.

Qatar Airways additionally expanded its onboard connectivity offering, becoming the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet operator. High-speed internet connectivity is now available across Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-8 aircraft on selected long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes.

Meanwhile, Hamad International Airport was named Best Airport in the Middle East for the 11th consecutive year by Skytrax, while Qatar Duty Free claimed the award for Best Airport Shopping globally for the third straight year.

Looking ahead, Qatar Airways said it would continue rebuilding and expanding its global network, targeting more than 160 destinations by summer 2026 as international demand for travel continues to strengthen.
