There would be few travel professionals in Australia who have not spoken to Gina Dounis at some point during their careers, and today the industry is celebrating why.

June 15 marks 30 years of Gina supporting members as ATIA’s Compliance and Membership Supervisor, making her one of the most trusted and recognisable figures in Australian travel.

Dean Long, ATIA CEO, said Ms Dounis had become part of the fabric of the industry.

“Gina has supported generations of travel professionals and has become part of the fabric of our industry. Her contribution to Australian travel cannot be overstated,” Mr Long said.

Having first joined the association when it was known as AFTA in 1990, Ms Dounis returned on June 3, 1996 and has remained a constant through some of the most significant moments in the industry’s history. From the transition from fax machines to email, to the evolution of accreditation programs and the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been there for members every step of the way.

Over three decades, Ms Dounis has helped thousands of travel businesses navigate compliance requirements, accreditation processes, industry changes and the everyday challenges of running a travel business.

On behalf of ATIA, its board and members across the country, congratulations Gina on a remarkable milestone.
