Rydges South Bank Brisbane has appointed Chantel Messaoudi as General Manager as the property celebrates its 30th anniversary and prepares for further investment ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Callum Kennedy, EVT Group General Manager of Hotels and Resorts, said Ms Messaoudi was exceptionally well placed to lead the hotel into its next phase of growth.
“Rydges South Bank has been a key part of Brisbane’s hospitality and events landscape for more than 30 years. Chantel brings a strong track record of leadership, commercial acumen and guest-focused excellence,” Mr Kennedy said.
Ms Messaoudi brings 30 years of global experience across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, the UK and Australia, including 11 hotel openings and senior commercial leadership roles.
Most recently she led a Bahrain luxury hotel to Forbes Travel Guide recommended status within six months and was named ‘Best General Manager’ at the 2025 Hotelier Middle East Awards.
The appointment marks a return to Rydges, where she previously held a national sales role.
Ms Messaoudi said the hotel’s location and investment pipeline ahead of 2032 created a clear opportunity.
“Rydges South Bank carries 30 years of significant trading history in this city. The location is unmatched, the investment pipeline ahead of 2032 is real and there is a clear opportunity to elevate the property to a higher level across revenue, guest experience, and team performance,” she added.
Opened in 1996 and directly connected to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the hotel has undergone multiple refurbishments and is preparing for further investment in the lead-up to the Games.
