Travellers planning Japan for the 2027 and 2028 seasons are being encouraged to book early, with a new promotion offering $500 off per couple on selected locally hosted rail holidays.

The Railbookers itineraries combine independent travel with daily assistance from English speaking local guides, giving travellers support navigating stations, sightseeing and day to day logistics while retaining flexibility.

Programs range from first time Japan itineraries covering Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka to longer journeys incorporating destinations including Hiroshima and Hakone.

Andrew Channell, Railbookers Senior Vice President of Product, said the format was designed for travellers who want greater independence without managing every detail themselves.

“Our locally hosted holidays remove those barriers by combining the independence travellers want with the local expertise and support that gives them confidence from the moment they arrive,” Mr Channell said.

Guides can assist with navigating Japan’s rail network and streets, provide local commentary and offer recommendations on dining, shopping and sightseeing, with daily plans adjusted around individual interests.

Packages include accommodation, rail travel aboard the Shinkansen and selected sightseeing, while leaving guests free to explore independently between hosted experiences.

The promotion applies to 2027 and 2028 Japan rail holidays booked by August 15, with savings of $500 per couple.
