A new nine-day hosted journey through China will combine food experiences with visits to some of the country’s best known cultural landmarks, travelling through Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai.
The Signature Series experience from Luxury Escapes will be hosted by Australian food personalities and former MasterChef Australia contestants Diana Chan and Khanh Ong,
The small group itinerary will include street food, restaurant dining and hands-on cooking experiences alongside guided sightseeing.
In Beijing, travellers will explore the Forbidden City and Great Wall of China, join a Hutong food tour and experience Peking Duck and hot pot dining.
The journey then continues to Xi’an for the Terracotta Warriors, street food in the Muslim Quarter and a traditional dumpling making class at Tang Dynasty Palace.
The final three nights will be spent in Shanghai, where the itinerary includes the city’s microbrewery scene and a farewell dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant.
Ms Chan said food had always been an important way for her to connect with people and places.
“China is such an exciting destination for food lovers and I’m looking forward to making personal connections with travellers as we explore the country beyond its famous sights,” Ms Chan said.
Mr Ong said the itinerary would highlight the contrasts between China’s culinary regions.
“I’m looking forward to moving from the old hutongs of Beijing to Shanghai’s modern dining scene. It’s my favourite way to travel, experiencing the contrast between China’s different culinary regions,” Mr Ong said.
Luxury Escapes said interest in China had increased among its Australian customers, with hotel bookings rising 174% in 2025 and a further 53% during the first seven months of 2026.
The Signature Series journey is limited to 32 guests and priced from $7,652 per person, including internal transfers, five-star accommodation, selected meals, guided touring and hosted culinary experiences. It departs in April next year.
