Virgin Australia has turned a surprise Grand Final wedding into a honeymoon to remember, gifting two die-hard Fremantle Dockers fans their dream getaway.
Perth couple Danni Bloomfield and Matt Abbott said “I do” outside Gate 3 at the MCG, just hours before the Dockers ran out for their first Toyota AFL Grand Final in 13 years.
With Danni’s 50th birthday approaching, the couple decided to combine the milestone birthday and Grand Final game with a surprise wedding, asking their best friend and celebrant to marry them in front of tens of thousands of footy fans.
Following the ceremony, Virgin Australia team members surprised the newlyweds with flights and accommodation for their honeymoon, courtesy of Virgin Australia Holidays.
As the official airline of the AFL for nearly 20 years, Virgin Australia has helped players, clubs and fans travel across the country for the game’s biggest moments.
Unfortunately, their team spoiled the party – losing the Grand Final 96-89 to the Brisbane Lions.
