Holland America Line will expand its fleet to 12 ships in 2029 with the transfer of Arcadia from P&O Cruises, adding capacity for more than 2,000 additional guests.

The Vista Class ship shares the same platform as Oosterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, making it a natural fit for the line’s existing fleet.

Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America Line President, said the addition would support continued demand growth while giving the company more flexibility across its future deployment.

“Adding Arcadia allows us to welcome more guests while building on everything they already love about our brand,” Ms Bodensteiner said.

The ship will also become part of the Holland America Evolution program, a multi-year investment introducing new venues, restaurants and accommodation options across selected ships.

Changes already announced for Oosterdam and Zuiderdam include the Grand Dutch Café, a renovated Ocean Bar, new Bridgeview Suites and purpose-built Solo Verandah cabins.

Oosterdam will debut its updated offering in late 2027, followed by Zuiderdam in April 2028. Details of the venues and features planned for Arcadia will be announced in the coming months.

The transfer also forms part of wider fleet changes across Carnival Corporation. As Arcadia moves to Holland America Line, P&O Cruises will receive Queen Anne from Cunard, with the ship scheduled to undergo extensive design changes in 2029 before joining the P&O Cruises fleet.
