Qantas Frequent Flyers have used more than one billion points to book international reward seats  since the launch of Classic Plus Flight Rewards.

This is more than three times the average for a typical Monday.

London, Singapore, Tokyo, Queenstown, and Los Angeles were the most popular destinations booked,  with almost 50 per cent of total Classic Plus reward seat bookings for travel in premium cabins.

Some examples of Classic Plus bookings on day one, included:

  • Three frequent flyers booked Canberra to Queenstown for the winter ski season for 26,000  points each in Economy.
  • One frequent flyer booked Melbourne to Singapore return at Christmas time for 215,500 points  flying Business outbound and Economy inbound.
  • A family of four booked Sydney to Auckland return during the July school holidays for 253,000  points flying Business (less than the 332,000 points to book as a Classic).

Classic Plus reward seats can be booked today on Qantas international flights departing Australia for  travel from 1 July 2024 exclusively via qantas.com and will be rolled out across the rest of the airline’s  international and domestic network on Qantas-operated fights by the end of the year.

Unlike the existing Classic reward seats, the points to book Classic Plus reward seats will vary like  normal airfares, higher in peak periods and lower in off-peak periods or when booked early.

Classic Plus seats will also go on sale, with every international Qantas sale from here on, an  opportunity for frequent flyers to secure discounted reward seats using points.

Alongside Classic Plus, Qantas will continue to offer more than 5 million existing Classic rewards seats  across Qantas, Jetstar and 45 partner airlines, with no change to the points required to book these  seats since 2019.

“We’ve spent a lot of time listening to members about how we can better reward them, so we’re pleased to  see such a strong uptake of the new product.

“The combination of Classic and Classic Plus flight rewards will give members more options to fly where  they want, when they want and more often, using points,” Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said.
