One-plus-one often adds up to more than two, but just occasionally two-plus-two results in something truly Epic.

That’s precisely what occurred in Canberra recently when four award-winning Travellers Choice members joined forces to launch the inaugural Epic Travel Expo, attracting more than 3,500 visitors, along with 74 travel brands.

The five-hour Expo at Coorong Pavilion was the brainchild of Jamison Travel, Travel Makers, Weston Cruise & Travel and Queanbeyan City Travel & Cruise – four agencies that have a history of working together to create special events.

Back in 2018 the group hosted a highly successful Solo Traveller Expo in Canberra that attracted more than 800 consumers.

“This time we thought we’d go big, and that was the key to our success,” says Jamison Travel Director Michelle Everson.

“By working together, we were able to share the costs, while pooling marketing dollars and taking advantage of all the various promotional channels we regularly participate in, including social media.”

Everson says there were two other factors that contributed to the Epic Travel Expo exceeding expectations – the collaborative Travellers Choice culture, and the support of the group’s head office marketing team.

“The marketing team created everything from the Expo’s eye-catching branding to an extensive suite of materials for use in our print and social media promotions. Frankly they were amazing and we couldn’t have done it without them.”

Everson says that with the event continuing to generate enquiries and bookings, plans are afoot to repeat the Expo in September 2025.

“We’re thinking we’ll go even bigger, and so are our supplier partners, who are already expressing a desire to invest even more resources into the event.”
