It might not be quite the right time for some to visit the US, but Sydneysiders can still soak up the spirit of Los Angeles—no passport required.

From 1–11 May, Los Angeles Tourism and Urban List are bringing the energy, creativity, and culture of LA to Sydney’s Hollywood Quarter in Surry Hills with an immersive 11-day cultural takeover.

The campaign celebrates all things LA, from its globally renowned food and music scenes to its iconic cinema heritage. Expect real-life experiences, themed activations, giveaways and content that transports visitors straight to the City of Angels—without leaving Sydney.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Urban List to bring the energy, creativity, and culture of Los Angeles to Sydney’s Hollywood Quarter,” said Craig Gibbons, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board. “At a time when our city is focused on recovery and resilience following the devastating events earlier this year, this is an important initiative to drive Aussies to rediscover the magic of LA and support the communities and businesses that make our city so special.”

Urban List’s Chief Commercial Officer, Jacqui L’Brooy, added: “We’re proud to partner with LA Tourism on a takeover that doesn’t just talk about culture, it delivers it. By injecting LA’s fame into real-life experiences, we’re giving culture seekers a true taste of the city and turning inspiration into action.”

The partnership taps into Urban List’s strong influence on travel behaviour, with their audience three times more likely to travel to destinations featured in their campaigns. By dropping LA into the heart of Sydney, the initiative is designed to spark genuine travel intent while giving back to the local community.

The timing also aligns with a major moment for LA on the global stage. With the ongoing transformation of LAX, the forthcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, and a slate of high-profile events including NBA All-Star 2026, FIFA World Cup 26, Super Bowl LXI in 2027, and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the city is building serious momentum.
