The arrival of flight JQ165 marked an historic moment as the first scheduled international flight coming into Hamilton in more than 13 years. Flights will be operated using a mix of Airbus A320ceo and A320neo aircraft.
With four weekly flights, the new route will add nearly 75,000 low fare seats each year across the Tasman, expanding access and offering more options for travellers between Australia and New Zealand.
Jetstar’s new trans-Tasman route launches continue throughout June, with Hamilton to Gold Coast launching tomorrow, followed by direct Dunedin to Gold Coast flights next week.
“This year, we’re celebrating 20 years of international flying from New Zealand and 16 years of domestic operations – transforming the country’s aviation industry along the way,” said Stephanie Tully, Jetstar Chief Executive Officer.
To celebrate the launch of its new flights, Jetstar is offering sale fares from $169. Sale ends 11.59pm AEST June 17.
# Jetstar has also announced a new partnership with The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Sydney Office offering affordable and convenient travel to South Korea.
The airline has launched a special sale with discounted one-way fares to Seoul (Incheon) from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne (via Sydney), with prices starting from $269.
The sale runs until 11:59 pm AEST on June 22, unless sold out earlier.
This campaign comes as Jetstar rapidly expands its Korea network. Last October the airline announced it would operate 10 return services per week between Australia and Seoul, making it the largest carrier between the two countries.
The introduction of daily services from Sydney and three flights per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) from Brisbane is expected to deliver more than 240,000 low-fare seats annually between Australia and South Korea.
