Electrical engineer Malik Shahzain boarded a plane in Lahore in Pakistan that he thought was a domestic flight to Karachi. Instead, he ended up in Saudi Arabia.
“Two hours into the flight, I questioned why the plane had not yet reached Karachi. This caused panic among the crew, who then blamed me for the mistake,” he told news outlets.
“Two planes were parked at the domestic terminal gate and I was not aware of the mistake until it was too late.”
Mr Shahzain is now suing the airline, Air Sial, accusing it of negligence and demanding compensation.
He has alleged that the airline staff did not inform him that he was boarding an international flight, even though he wasn’t carrying a passport or visa.
The Pakistan Airport Authority has launched an investigation into the incident.
