The events in Sydney and Melbourne attracted 360 travel industry professionals to connect with a lineup of 49 Japanese suppliers and destinations at both events.
The trade-focused networking events provided travel agents and industry professionals with access to Japan’s leading tourism suppliers.
“The response from the Australian travel trade has been outstanding,” said Naoki Kitazawa, Executive Director of JNTO Sydney.
“Japan has become a very popular destination, as evidenced by the success of this event, and Australia is projected to achieve the historic milestone of one million annual visitors.”
The events featured an exhibition-style format that allowed attendees to engage one-on-one with all 49 exhibitors throughout the evening.
Traditional Japanese cultural elements elevated the experience, with authentic ikebana flower arrangements creating an elegant atmosphere and live koto performances providing the soundtrack to the networking sessions.
“The direct connections made between our suppliers and agents will undoubtedly strengthen business relationships moving forward and encourage Australians to travel more to beautiful off the beaten track destinations in Japan,” said Harriett Bougher, Business Development and Senior Assistant Market Manager JNTO Sydney.
A highlight of both evenings was the grand prize draw, with return flights to Japan awarded to lucky winners who were present at each event.
Gill Sher of Spencer Travel and Tayla Garrett from Flight Centre claimed the coveted prize at each venue.
