During an exceptional eight years with the airline, Mr Naughton oversaw a significant increase in year-round capacity and frequency on the airline’s services to Vancouver from Sydney and Brisbane.

In addition, he launched Air Canada’s successful seasonal service between Auckland and Vancouver, and pre-COVID added Melbourne to the airline’s global network.

He was also responsible for re-building Air Canada’s Australian and New Zealand operations in the wake of the COVID pandemic.

“As you can imagine, the decision to leave what I’ve always considered to be a dream role was not taken lightly,” said Mr Naughton.

“It has been a real privilege to lead Air Canada through an exciting period of expansion and to see Vancouver established as a genuine North American gateway for Australian travellers.

“I have also truly valued the partnerships and friendships I have forged over the years. However, I’ve reached a point in my career where I feel it is time to explore new opportunities and challenges.”

Mr Naughton’s last day will be October 31. A replacement has yet to be named.
