Australia has re-taken the crown as ‘Oceania’s Leading Destination 2025’ at the 32nd World Travel Awards in Hong Kong.

New Zealand won the award in 2024 but Australia has now reclaimed the title it last won in 2023, ahead of Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand.

Other victories in the hotly contested Oceania region included Melbourne Airport being named ‘Leading Airport’ while Melbourne claimed ‘Leading City Destination’. Wintjiri Wiru was named ‘Leading Tourist Attraction’ while Ayers Rock Resort collected ‘Oceania’s Responsible Tourism Award’.

Tourism Australia was named ‘Leading Tourist Board’, Flight Centre won ‘Leading Travel Agency’ and Inspiring Vacations took out ‘Leading Tour Operator’.

Princess Cruises were named ‘Leading Cruise Line’, Sydney picked up ‘Leading Meetings & Conference Destination’, the Park Hyatt Sydney triumphed as ‘Leading Hotel’ and the Hyatt Regency Sydney won ‘Leading Business Hotel’.

Air New Zealand won both ‘Leading Airline’ and ‘Leading Airline Brand’ while Qantas took out ‘Leading Airline Lounge’. The ‘Leading Resort’ went to qualia while Daintree EcoLodge & Spa walked off with ‘Leading Green Hotel’.
