A group of travel advisors have enjoyed a famil to sample Viking’s Rhine Getaway, an eight-day river journey from Basel to Amsterdam.
Sailing through Switzerland, Germany, France and the Netherlands, the itinerary offered a diverse snapshot of Europe.
Advisors experienced a mix of charming riverside towns and culturally rich cities, with early spring bringing seasonal colour to gardens and tulip displays along the way.
The famil was designed to give advisors first-hand experience of Viking’s river product, including the onboard experience, dining, itinerary flow and culturally immersive shore excursion program.
Onboard, advisors experienced Viking’s destination-focused dining, with menus reflecting the regions visited. A highlight of the sailing was a themed German dinner, which brought a lively, local atmosphere to the restaurant.
A standout moment of the journey was scenic sailing through the Middle Rhine on day five, one of the most picturesque stretches of the river.
During this experience, advisors enjoyed:
- A half-day of uninterrupted scenic cruising
- Castles appearing around almost every bend
- Vineyard-covered hills and charming riverside villages
- Engaging commentary from the Program Director, including the legend of the Lorelei Rock
In Cologne, the group experienced Top of Cologne, one of Viking’s Privileged Access tours of the cathedral, offering rare access to areas unopen to the public.
Strasbourg was a standout for the group, with its unique blend of French and German influences.
