A new 2028 Alaska program will introduce fresh itineraries, first time scenic cruising through Nootka Sound and the regional debut of a reimagined Oosterdam.

Holland America Line’s season will feature cruises ranging from seven- to 18-days aboard Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam and Zaandam, sailing from Seattle, Vancouver, Whittier and, on one itinerary, San Diego.

Among the new options is an 11-day California to Alaska voyage aboard Zaandam, departing San Diego on April 29 and finishing in Vancouver.

The itinerary includes Glacier Bay, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Klawock and Prince Rupert.

Select ‘Great Alaska Explorer’ and ‘Great Bear Rainforest’ voyages will also cruise through Nootka Sound for the first time, adding a lesser visited waterway on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Another major change will be the arrival of Oosterdam following its Holland America Evolution refurbishment.

The ship will introduce purpose built Solo Verandah staterooms, new forward facing Bridgeview Suites, refreshed accommodation and the Grand Dutch Café.

Oosterdam will also become the primary ship for the cruise line’s Alaska Cruisetours, combining sailings with overland journeys to Denali and the Yukon. Details of the 2028 Cruisetour program will be released later.

Paul Grigsby, Holland America Line Vice President of Revenue Planning and Deployment, said the season was designed to combine established Alaska highlights with less familiar experiences.

“Our 2028 season reflects that approach, pairing the Alaska highlights guests expect with a collection of distinctive experiences, from rare itineraries and lesser travelled waterways to new ways of enjoying the journey on board,” Mr Grigsby said.

Other itineraries include 14-day ‘Great Alaska Explorer’ sailings from Seattle, an 18-day ‘Great Bear Rainforest and Alaska Explorer’ from Vancouver and a new 16-day version aboard Oosterdam.

Seven-day ‘Glacier Discovery’, ‘Inside Passage’ and ‘Alaska Explorer’ programs will also return, with visits to destinations including Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Sitka and College Fjord.

Bookings for the 2028 Alaska season are now open, with an early booking offer available on selected departures.
