Some 11 athletes across multiple sporting codes were honoured, including Australian sporting legends such as Ian Thorpe and Cathy Freeman.
“Accor Stadium has been home to Australia’s greatest sporting moments and the inaugural Hall of Fame was a fitting way to celebrate the people, athletes and fans that make our Olympic Stadium so special,” said Kerrie Mather, Chief Executive Officer of Venues NSW and Accor Stadium.
Since the Games, Accor Stadium has welcomed more than 35 million visitors, from international athletes to global superstars.
“As Sydney reflects on the 25 year legacy of the Games, Novotel and ibis Sydney Olympic Park remain more than hotels – they are living landmarks of a moment when Sydney captured the world’s attention,” said Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer for Accor in the Pacific region.
