The top 50 hotels in the world have just been unveiled with Australian properties claiming two spots on the coveted list.

Featuring hotels from 22 destinations across six continents, the third annual announcement of the prestigious rankings was made at a live ceremony in London.

The list is compiled from the votes of an 800-plus-strong group of anonymous experts, comprising a balanced mix of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and seasoned luxury travellers.

Towering over Victoria Harbour on the Kowloon waterfront, Rosewood Hong Kong took out the top spot, climbing two places from number three in the 2024 list, to also clinch ‘The Best Hotel in Asia’ title.

Hotels in Thailand’s capital claimed the next two spots, with Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River coming in second and Capella Bangkok in third.

“It’s an honour to gather so many leading voices in travel, hospitality and hotels – and to celebrate the very best,” said Emma Sleight, Head of Content for The World’s 50 Best Hotels.

Oceania has two properties featured, including new entry Capella Sydney (No.12) and Brisbane’s The Calile (No.34).

“To have been selected three years in a row marks a significant affirmation of The Calile’s place on the global hotel-industry stage and reinforces our reputation as a desirable destination for international travellers coming to Brisbane,” said Catherine Malouf, Co-owner, The Calile Hotel.

“As a family-run business this acknowledgement is a testament to the values and standards that our team continues to deliver and we are humbled to again represent Australia and our region.”
