“We could do this ourselves, you know,” one guest said aloud to me one morning while we enjoyed a hot cooked breakfast with a magnificent sunrise over the Freycinet Peninsula that had otherwise stunned the room into silence.

“But it’s just not fair to have one person do all the driving while the other gets to take in all of this!

If your clients have already been to Tasmania, chances are they hired a car or took their campervan and explored the island at leisure.

But when they return on an all-inclusive tour with Outback Spirit, they’ll have the time to truly discover it.

You would be forgiven for thinking that Outback Spirit’s 12-day ‘Tasmanian Wilderness Adventure’ is all about lush rainforests, unique wildlife, and rugged coastlines.

While your clients will experience all of those things, they’ll also discover the wild spirit that lives and breathes amongst the friendly locals who are eager to share the island’s storied past, from Indigenous roots to convict history.

Jumping right into the history books on day one is half a day exploring the Port Arthur ruins by foot and scenic cruise.

Outback Spirit promises the best available accommodation in all locations, which means guests get more leisure time here as the Port Arthur Motor Inn is literally in the backyard of the ruins, offering sunset views over the hauntingly beautiful colony grounds right from their bedroom windows.

A few days later, guests are divided into groups of four to experience a 20-minute helicopter flight over Wineglass Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula, showcasing the magnificent coastline and rugged escarpment below.

Morning tea is ready to go just metres away from where they land upon their return, allowing time to sit and reflect upon the stunning scenery they just witnessed and watch their fellow passengers take off.

With nine days remaining on tour, one wonders what could possibly top this seamless experience.

The oversized coach windows allow for near panoramic views on the two hour winding drive to Cradle Mountain where everyone is more than ready to soak in the striking beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Listed area.

Once here, guests have a full day to trek the famous Dove Lake circuit or to simply relax in front of a fire at the luxurious lodge and embark on one of several easy walks around the property where wombat and platypus spotting is common.

A private wine and cheese tasting awaits before dinner, highlighting the rich flavours of Tasmanian local produce.

Another winding drive through temperate rainforests brings guests to what locals call the “end of the world” as there is nothing south of the former mining town of Queenstown except world heritage listed wilderness.

While many road trippers use this as a short fuel stop en route to Strahan (guilty as charged), Outback Spirit treats their guests to a quirky town tour as well as a private lunch and movie screening inside the historical Paragon Theatre, giving invaluable insights to the history and importance of the UNESCO-listed Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

Guests are treated to a premium all-inclusive cruise on the Gordon River (above) the very next day, enjoying spacious seating and sumptuous meals on the upper deck as they glide through pristine waters before a guided tour of Sarah Island, the state’s first penal colony and what became known as the blueprint for Port Arthur.

Three nights in Hobart to round out this tour allows your clients to have a taste of cosmopolitan life with historical walking tours and elevated dining.

Plus, an open-air adventure cruise around the southern edge of Bruny Island has your clients taking in more seals and dolphins than they could possibly count.

The pace of this tour is expertly set out with two or three-night stays being the norm, allowing the time to be fully immersed in one area before moving onto the next.

A mandatory seat rotation ensures that guests get expansive views from both sides of the coach, and the curated selection of fresh fruit and packaged snacks found at the front of the coach seems to magically replenish itself after each stop.

Outback Spirit’s experienced tour guides gently remind guests throughout the tour to “not let their ambition overshadow their ability”, ensuring that everyone gets to experience the very best of Tasmania in ways that don’t compromise their comfort or wellbeing.

The eager smiles of guests as they disembark the coach at every stop proves that while your clients are often asked to find their Outback Spirit, it’s clear that many already have it packed and ready to go.
