How about an 18k Gold Diamond Bvlgari necklace worth $11,000? Or maybe a black box flight data recorder, or some nice airport signage?

These are just some of the items up for grabs in Brisbane Airport’s biggest ever Lost Property Auction.

The auction features hundreds of pieces left behind by the 24 million passengers who travelled through the terminals in the past year.

Some 800 unique lots are now open for bidding, including laptops, tablets, phones, speakers, cameras, gaming consoles, jewellery, handbags, fashion accessories, perfume, scooters, bikes, drones and sunglasses.

Other items include an exclusive experience from a premiership-winning Queensland sports team and rare aviation memorabilia, such as aircraft seats, a black box, cockpit voice recorder, lifejackets, runway and terminal signage.

Despite efforts to reunite owners with their belongings, many items remain unclaimed well beyond the standard holding period. Bidding will close on November 2.

All proceeds support Queensland children’s charities with last year’s sale raising $90,000. Recent recipients include Little Wings, Baby Give Back, Fair Fight Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.

“There’s nothing better than grabbing a bargain, especially when you know the money is going to help young Queenslanders thanks to fantastic charities,” said Peter Doherty, Brisbane Airport spokesperson.

“Our aim in this 100th year of Brisbane Airport is to raise $100,000 to help some of Queensland’s amazing charities that support young people.”
