The parents of two Aussie girls who died in Laos have launched a scathing attack on the country’s government, calling for travellers to boycott the destination.

The devastated parents of Melbourne pair Holly Morton-Bowles and Bianca Jones labelled the Laos government as “corrupt” in an interview with the Herald Sun.

As the first anniversary of the girls’ death approaches, the parents claim that local police have failed to investigate the tragedy.

The two 19-year-olds died along with four other tourists when they accidentally consumed methanol while staying at the Nana Backpackers hostel.

“We recognise how corrupt and unhelpful the Laos Government (is), there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest there is any type of investigation going on,” Shaun Bowles and Samantha Morton said in the interview.

“(Our) hope is that Australians remove this country from their bucket list, your life is worth nothing over there and we have seen this first-hand as well as other families that have been involved in this tragedy.”

It’s been claimed that Laos officials have refused to meet with the devastated families.
