Traveltalk was invited to a special screening of the movie by MSC Cruises, who’s logo features prominently on the cars driven by Pitt and Idris.
Pitt plays ageing race car driver Sonny Hayes, who is invited onto the struggling APXGP team by his old sparring partner Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem. The team must win points in the last few races of the season or risk expulsion from the sport.
Even if you’re not a motor racing fan (and there’s plenty of high-octane action for those who are), the movie is entertaining, well-acted and moves along at a lightning pace.
There’s humour, pathos and romance, along with all the glitz, glamour and celebrity attraction that goes with the sport.
The film was shot during real Formula 1 Grand Prix race weekends over the past seasons and so also includes MSC Cruises distinct racetrack branding – the result of the line’s global partnership with Formula 1 since 2022.
“This film captures the same spirit that drives our people on board and ashore every day: world-class performance, precision and teamwork,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of the Cruise Division, MSC Group.
“Formula 1 and MSC Cruises are both built on innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence – on land and at sea. We are proud to see our partnership brought to life on the big screen.”
The cruise division of MSC Group recently announced a multi-year extension that will see it continue as a global partner of the sport through to 2030.
