China Southern Airlines is set to double its daily services between Guangzhou and Brisbane this summer, marking a significant boost in connectivity between Australia and China.
In response to surging demand during the 2025/26 Southern Hemisphere peak travel season, the airline will increase flights to 14 per week from mid-December through late February. The expanded schedule will be introduced in phases:
- 17 Nov – 14 Dec 2025: 10 flights per week
- 15 Dec 2025 – 22 Feb 2026: 14 flights per week (double daily)
- 23 Feb – 2 Mar 2026: 10 flights per week
The increase will add 85 flights and more than 53,000 seats during the season, offering greater capacity for both leisure and business travellers.
Flights will be operated with the Airbus A350-900, featuring 28 lie-flat business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 262 economy seats. The aircraft is equipped to deliver an upgraded passenger experience across all classes.
The seasonal uplift comes as part of China Southern’s ongoing commitment to the Australian market. Brisbane has been a key destination for the airline since 2010, and this latest expansion highlights its long-term investment in the route.
Brisbane Airport, currently undergoing a $5 billion redevelopment, will support the increased frequency with upgraded infrastructure and plans for a future Terminal 3. Already Australia’s most connected domestic airport, Brisbane is strengthening its position as a major international hub.
The expanded services are expected to drive growth in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange, reinforcing the strong ties between Queensland and southern China.
