Sydney’s winter calendar is set to heat up again as the Christmas in July Festival returns for its second year, bringing snowfalls, fairy lights and European-style festive charm back to The Rocks from 10–19 July 2026.
Over ten nights, the historic harbourside precinct will be transformed into a winter village inspired by traditional Christmas markets in France, Germany and the Alpine regions, offering visitors a free, immersive seasonal experience in the heart of Sydney.
The festival will feature glowing alpine-style chalets, artisan stalls, live music, and winter-themed food and drink including mulled wine, melted cheese dishes and other European-inspired comfort fare.
A major drawcard returning in 2026 is Snow Lane in Kendall Lane, where artificial snow falls nightly beneath a canopy of fairy lights, creating one of the event’s most photographed and atmospheric installations.
Kilometres of festive lighting and large-scale installations will once again illuminate The Rocks, reinforcing the festival’s ambition to establish itself as one of Sydney’s signature winter traditions.
Festival organisers say the event continues to grow in popularity as Australians increasingly embrace European-style winter celebrations during the cooler months, with the precinct designed to deliver a full sensory experience of sound, light, food and seasonal entertainment.
Vincent Hernandez said the 2026 edition builds on strong demand following the festival’s debut year, with expanded experiences and enhanced immersive elements planned across the precinct.
The Christmas in July Festival is free to attend and open to all ages, with organisers encouraging both locals and visitors to explore the event across its ten-night run.
The festival is delivered in partnership with local producers, artisans and entertainment providers, aiming to support small businesses while activating one of Sydney’s most historic neighbourhoods during the winter season.
