World Expeditions has launched a new mountaineering challenge, taking guests to a peak described as one of the most beautiful mountains on Earth.
The 18-day expedition is to the 5,947-metre Alpamayo in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru. It is renowned for its near-perfect pyramid shape and dramatic fluted ice face.
The expedition is limited to eight participants and will be led by internationally respected mountain guide Soren Kruse Ledet.
“Alpamayo has long been a dream peak for experienced alpinists and combining this objective with Soren’s leadership and a highly supportive guiding structure creates an exceptional opportunity for our climbing community,” said Sue Badyari, World Expeditions CEO.

Graded Technical Grade 4, the climb is designed for experienced mountaineers with strong prior climbing and altitude experience.
The route features sustained snow and ice climbing, with slopes steepening from 55 to 65 degrees on the lower sections to as much as 75 to 90 degrees approaching the summit.
Climbers will benefit from a 1:2 guide-to-climber ratio throughout the expedition, which demands confident movement on steep terrain, glacier travel skills and the ability to climb efficiently at high altitude.
Reaching the summit rewards climbers with panoramic views across the Cordillera Blanca before a technical descent involving multiple rappels.
Due to the technical nature of the climb, all applicants will undergo an approval process to confirm they have the necessary experience.
The expedition departs June 26, 2027, priced from $9,990 per person.
