The Kimberley is calling – and Intrepid Travel with Tourism Western Australia are looking for four Kimberleys to answer.
A playful new destination campaign, The Kimberley Calls, has launched with a competition seeking Australians named Kimberley, Kimberly or a variation of the name to enter for the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime adventure through Western Australia’s famous region.
The campaign will run in two phases, with the first centred on a hero campaign video and national competition, followed by longer-form destination content designed to inspire Australians to discover the Kimberley for themselves.
The hero video opens with an Intrepid leader making a distinctive cooing call, which is answered by Kimberleys across Australia – before revealing the reason for the call: the Kimberley itself.
Yvette Thompson, General Manager ANZ, Intrepid Travel said the campaign aims to put one of Australia’s most spectacular adventure destinations firmly on travellers’ radars.
“We thought, why not turn the name Kimberley into a very good reason to visit the Kimberley?” she said.
“The Kimberley is a pretty special part of Australia, so we’re having a bit of fun with the campaign while giving four very lucky Kimberleys the chance to experience it for themselves.
“And if you know a Kimberley, Kimberly or someone with a variation of the name, now is the time to tag them.”
The campaign showcases the Kimberley’s spectacular landscapes, wildlife, Aboriginal culture and remote wilderness, including the ancient formations of Purnululu National Park and the Bungle Bungle Range.
Intrepid Travel remains one of the biggest operators in the Kimberley, with four itineraries highlighting the grand landscapes of this remote corner of Western Australia.
Bookings for Intrepid’s 14-day Kimberley Trail have grown almost 50% YoY year to date.
How to enter:
To enter, simply explain in 25 words or less why the Kimberley’s calls you or a Kim, Kimmy or Kimmee you know.
The prize includes a 10-day Intrepid trip exploring the region from Broome / Rubibi to Kununurra / Goonoonoorrang, with red rock gorges, freshwater pools, remote wilderness and outback skies along the way.
Friends, family, colleagues and travel advisors are encouraged to tag the Kimberleys in their lives and help them answer the call. Entries close November 11.
