Darwin has been announced as the host city for G’day Australia 2026, with 300 international travel agents set to experience the Northern Territory and other parts of the country as part of Tourism Australia’s flagship trade event.
Held in October 2026, the event will showcase Australia’s world-class food, cultural experiences and natural attractions. The visiting agents will connect with tourism operators from across the nation before taking part in familiarisation trips supported by State and Territory Tourism Organisations.
The attendees are all part of Tourism Australia’s Aussie Specialist Program, a global network of around 36,000 travel agents across more than 100 countries who are trained to sell Australian holidays. The last G’day Australia, hosted in Perth in 2024, was credited with generating an additional $30 million in visitor spend in the 12 months following the event.
Tourism Australia will deliver the 2026 edition in partnership with Tourism Northern Territory. Federal Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell said bringing agents to Australia was key to building international visitation. “We know this event works, driving some $30 million in spend, and we can’t wait to welcome 300 agents to Darwin next year,” he said.
Northern Territory Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby said it was a major opportunity for the Territory to shine on the world stage. “From spectacular landscapes and authentic Aboriginal culture to unique wildlife and military history, the NT offers a true Australian experience, and we can’t wait for these travel agents to see it firsthand,” she said.
Tourism supports more than 700,000 jobs and 360,000 businesses across Australia, and the announcement comes as Tourism Australia continues to roll out the next chapter of its Come & Say G’day campaign in international markets.
