Bhutan has celebrated a landmark moment for the country’s tourism industry and its positioning as a leading high-value, sustainable travel destination.
The Bhutan International Travel Mart (BITM) 2026 brought together more than 200 international buyers from approximately 15 key global markets, alongside more than 50 Bhutanese tourism exhibitors.
Following a welcome dinner, the event was graced by the Honourable Minister for Industry, Commerce and Employment, Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji.
The three-day mart designed as a premier B2B platform connected global travel trade professionals directly with Bhutan’s tourism industry through curated business meetings, destination showcases, networking sessions and immersive product presentations.
The initiative was strategically designed to convert global interest in Bhutan into long-term partnerships and meaningful economic opportunities for local communities.
A key highlight of the inaugural BITM 2026 was the spotlight on Bhutan’s emerging destinations, innovative tourism products and transformative national initiatives that embody the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable and regenerative tourism.
“The inaugural Bhutan International Travel Mart 2026 marks a significant milestone in Bhutan’s tourism journey,” said Damcho Rinzin, the Director of the Department of Tourism, Bhutan.
“More than a trade event, BITM is a strategic platform that strengthens our engagement with international markets while showcasing Bhutan’s unique approach to high-value, regenerative tourism.
“By bringing together global buyers, industry partners and destinations from across the country, we are creating new opportunities for sustainable growth, fostering meaningful partnerships and ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach communities throughout Bhutan.
“We are delighted to welcome the world to Bhutan and look forward to building enduring relationships that will shape the future of our tourism sector in Bhutan.”
