The day-to-night celebration brought the park to life with music, colour and moments shared by guests from across the region.
More than 1,000 invited guests, including celebrities, media and partners from across Asia and the U.S., attended the opening event.
The celebration kicked into full party mode as Mickey Mouse and his pals, joined by Duffy and friends, made a grand entrance in new 20th anniversary party outfits.
Vibrant pyrotechnics danced their way toward the Castle of Magical Dreams as fireworks and a fleet of drones lit up the sky, forming the glowing 20th anniversary logo high above the castle.
“Disney is known around the world for exceptional storytelling, and Hong Kong Disneyland is a shining reflection of that,” said Jill Estorino, President and Managing Director of Disney Parks International.
“I’m so proud of how the resort has woven itself into the fabric of this community. It has become the tourism flagship, the largest employer in the tourism and family entertainment industry, and a source of happiness for so many.”
As the evening continued, the celebration carried on with an afterparty in Fantasyland where guests danced to a mix of Disney favourites, as a live DJ spun tracks that kept the atmosphere buzzing.
“This anniversary is a heartfelt tribute to guests who have visited and shared the joy of the Disney experience with us over the years, as well as the Disney fans who are planning to visit us for the very first time,” said Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
