The event, which attracted 120 international buyers, connects Australia’s visitor experiences with global markets.
The three-day program, delivered in partnership with Tourism Western Australia, will see more than 5,000 business-to-business meetings take place between Australian tourism suppliers and international distribution partners, helping to strengthen global connections and drive future visitation.
“Meeting Place is one of the most valuable events on the inbound tourism calendar, bringing together the people and partnerships that power Australia’s tourism success,” said Peter Shelley, ATEC Managing Director.
“This is an opportunity for Australian tourism businesses to showcase the world-class experiences that make our destinations so appealing to global travellers.”
Now in its 53rd year, Meeting Place forms a cornerstone of Australia’s tourism export industry, combining a series of business appointments, conference discussions and networking events that build capability, strengthen relationships and set the direction for inbound tourism growth.
Tourism Western Australia played host to the official Welcome function on Rottnest Island, giving delegates a chance to experience one of the state’s most popular destinations firsthand.
“ATEC Meeting Place is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Western Australia’s world-class tourism experiences directly to the agents who sell our destination internationally,” said Reece Whitby, WA Tourism Minister.
“This event connects WA tourism operators with key national and overseas buyers, helping to drive visitation and strengthen our tourism industry’s global reach.”
ATEC also used the event to launch its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking a significant step in the organisation’s commitment to advancing reconciliation within Australia’s tourism industry.
The Plan, formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, outlines ATEC’s framework for building stronger relationships, fostering respect and creating opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The endorsement recognises ATEC’s role as a national peak body with the capacity to influence reconciliation outcomes across the broader visitor economy.
