The inter-state AFL Grand Final between Brisbane and Fremantle has seen Australia’s airlines scramble to provide extra flights for footy fans wanting to attend the big show.
Qantas and Jetstar have added another seven flights between Brisbane and Melbourne, and a flight between Sydney and Melbourne, to help get Lions fans to the final game of the year. This will add around 1,160 seats on top of what is already available.
One-way fares on these flights begin from $234 with Jetstar and $375 with Qantas.
For Western Australians, Qantas has added another 13 flights between Perth and Melbourne to help get Fremantle fans to the Grand Final.
The move adds around 2,300 seats on top of what is already available. One-way fares on these flights begin from $766, with an additional flight on Friday afternoon prior to the game due to increased demand. QF650 will depart at 14:45 on September 24, arriving in Melbourne at 20:50.
Meanwhile Virgin Australia has added nearly 4,000 additional seats on flights between Perth and Melbourne and more than 1,000 seats on flights between Brisbane and Melbourne.
