More than 170 travellers onboard the Virgin Australia service found themselves in the middle of a 25th birthday celebration with a five-million Velocity Points present.
As the parcel made its way through the cabin, guests unwrapped airline merchandise at each turn before the final unwrap revealed the ultimate prize – one million Velocity Points.
For the lucky winner (pictured below) that’s enough to redeem up to 11 one-way international business class reward seats. Every passenger on board departed the flight a winner, with each receiving 25,000 Velocity Points.

Meanwhile Velocity Frequent Flyer has confirmed its popular 1 Point Rewards Store is coming to Brisbane on September 5.
For one day only, Brisbane-ites will have the chance to get their hands on premium rewards including flights and sought-after products from Dyson, Bose, Prada and more – all for just 1 Velocity Point.
Hundreds of Sydneysiders queued around the block when the store opened in the Harbour City last week (see video below).
How it works
From a mystery prize carousel and claw machines to Myer reward shelves lined with sought-after products, the store offers playful ways to claim rewards.
Virgin Australia cabin crew will be on hand to guide members, alongside a live DJ set to keep the energy high.

Velocity Points can be earned quickly across an extensive partner network, including 7-Eleven, AGL, DiDi, DoorDash and more.
From just 5,900 Points (plus taxes, fees and carrier charges), members can book a one-way Virgin Australia Economy Reward Seat from Sydney to Melbourne, use Points + Pay to reduce fares or redeem Points for hotels, holiday extras and more.
Points can also be redeemed for a vast selection of products, including gift cards, wine and online shopping at Myer.
