Good news for travel agents with Luxury Escapes adding a flight-only booking option for upcoming direct flights to the Maldives.
The weekly return charter, exclusive to Luxury Escapes customers, is scheduled to begin on May 18, the first time Aussies have been able to fly to the destination via a regular scheduled service.
The non-stop Melbourne to Malé seasonal route will be operated by Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives.
While travel packages have already gone on sale, Luxury Escapes has now added the flight-only booking option to Agent Hub.
The addition gives agents more flexibility for their clients if they wish to make use of the new service but may have already booked accommodation prior to flights going on sale. It’s also the first time agents are able to access flight bookings in Agent Hub.
At around 11 hours to Malé and more than 10 hours on the return leg, the direct service is expected to significantly cut travel time for Australians heading to the Indian Ocean destination.
Currently, most flights from Australia to the Maldives require a stopover in hubs such as Singapore, Doha, Colombo or Dubai, often pushing total journey times beyond 20 hours.
