Qantas has been named Australia’s most punctual airline for the eighth consecutive year.

Analytics firm OAG recorded more than 81 per cent of domestic and regional flights departing on time across the year to June 2026, the Flying Kangaroo’s strongest result since 2019 outside of COVID.

The airline finished the year on a high, with almost 85 per cent of flights departing on time in June alone, ranking it as the world’s most on-time major airline for that month. It is the fifth time in the past six months the carrier has ranked in the top three major airlines globally.

Markus Svensson, Qantas Domestic CEO, said the result was a tribute to every part of the operation.

“We’ve seen consistent improvement in our on-time performance over the past few years and it’s a credit to our teams that we’re now regularly among the world’s leading airlines. An 81 per cent on-time rate is the best we’ve delivered since 2019 and it’s translating directly into how customers rate their experience with us,” Mr Svensson said.

The result was 3.4 percentage points higher than the previous financial year and 5.4 percentage points higher than FY24, with Qantas finishing ahead of its major domestic competitor by around 3.5 percentage points and winning 11 out of 12 months of the year.
