After six years of rehabilitation a former hunting reserve in South Africa’s Greater Kruger region will welcome its first guests on August 1.
Sandringham Private Game Reserve covers almost 5,000 hectares between the Timbavati and Thornybush game reserves.
The property sits where four rivers meet and includes two safari camps and a private residence, with views towards the Drakensberg. Conservation work has supported the return of wildlife to an area previously unused as a protected reserve.
Three Accommodation Options
Shisaka Camp has six suites and two villas within a Tamboti forest, with rooftop salas, private infinity pools and showers opening to indoor and outdoor spaces.
N’weti Camp offers six suites overlooking the Timbavati River, each with a pool, deck and freestanding bath.
Sandringham House accommodates up to eight guests across four ensuite bedrooms. The serviced residence includes a private chef, butler, ranger and vehicle, as well as an outdoor terrace, infinity pool and firepit overlooking the river.
Conservation And Community
The reserve has partnered with the Tracker Training Academy and Bushwise to help young people from surrounding communities prepare for careers in tracking and conservation.
The Sabi Sabi Foundation also supports training and employment across safari, hospitality and conservation.
Sandringham compliments four existing lodges in the Sabi Sands. Guests can combine the two regions using flights between their private airstrips, adding another landscape and accommodation style to a broader Greater Kruger itinerary.
