Travellers heading to Canada can experience the country’s most remarkable natural and cultural treasures with free admission and discounted camping fees at national parks and historic sites, thanks to the Parks Canada Discovery Pass.
Available until 2 September 2025, the pass offers access to over 80 iconic destinations, from dramatic coastlines and fossil-rich mountain ranges to centuries-old fortifications and literary landmarks.
This is the perfect time to explore the world-famous Canadian Rockies, stroll through centuries of history in Old Québec, or walk in the footsteps of Anne of Green Gables. Alberta’s Banff National Park delivers classic Canadian scenery—turquoise lakes, alpine meadows and the soaring Rocky Mountains—while British Columbia’s Kootenay and Yoho national parks offer guided hikes through the Burgess Shale fossil sites, revealing glimpses of life on Earth more than 500 million years ago. In Newfoundland and Labrador, Gros Morne National Park showcases geological marvels like the exposed Earth’s mantle at the Tablelands and the distinctive ‘tuckamore’ forests shaped by harsh coastal winds.
History comes to life in Old Québec, where visitors can tour the Fortifications of Québec, the only remaining walled city north of Mexico. Meet costumed characters and explore rarely accessed military quarters while learning about three centuries of defence history. On Prince Edward Island, fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved heroine can enjoy free entry to Green Gables Heritage Place and soak up the literary legacy of Anne of Green Gables.
Canada’s aquatic ecosystems are also on full display. In Ontario, the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area offers guided tours across one of the largest freshwater protected areas on Earth. Meanwhile, the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park in Quebec is one of the world’s top whale-watching destinations, where visitors can spot belugas, minke whales and more from the cliffs of the Pointe-Noire Interpretation and Observation Centre.
