As a travel agent for one of Club Med’s Diamond agencies, I was recently invited on its 2024 VIP trip to Québec Charlevoix in Canada – a destination I knew little about but was eager to explore.

After flying comfortably in economy with Air Canada and clearing customs in just 12 minutes, I was excited to experience my Club Med stay alongside five other agents.

I was pleased to find the check-in process at the resort to be quick, which made all the difference after a long flight.

The resort’s modern design immediately caught my eye, blending contemporary style with a real sense of Canada’s character. I couldn’t wait to discover the rest of the property.

The attention to detail was evident everywhere; from the rooms to the public spaces, it all felt elevated. The room I stayed in offered impressive views of the St. Lawrence River and I enjoyed watching the sunrise each morning.

Spacious and well-appointed, my room provided ample space for clothing, shoes and even a dedicated spot for my suitcase. The bathroom was equally spacious, featuring two vanities and a bath, perfect for unwinding after a day of skiing. Room configuration is super important and I really feel Club Med have mastered this.

The food was delicious, with different dishes offered for each meal making it a standout. On first impression I noticed the freshness of the food with the impressive presentation making it hard to choose what to eat.

There was a chef at every food station serving with a smile and almost every dish was picture worthy!

The resort’s main dining area had two distinct sections: one for adults only and another for families. Both offered views of the ski mountain’s base, allowing guests to enjoy watching skiers as they made their way up the slopes before tearing down the mountain for lunch.

There’s also a specialty restaurant which has a lovely cosy feel to it. There are different seating arrangements to suit all group sizes and despite many food choices, traditional Canadian cuisine was also available.

I was thrilled to try the famous Canadian poutine (deep fried fries, poutine gravy and white cheddar cheese sauce – yum!).

Our first morning began with a trip to the pro shop next to the locker room to get our ski equipment fitted. We were each assigned a ski locker that matched our room number and the room key acted as the locker key, adding an element of simplicity.

We were then grouped based on our skiing abilities for lessons led by professional instructors.

The resort uses both Pomas and gondolas, which offered beautiful views of the surrounding mountain terrain. I was thrilled to learn that even beginners like me could ski to the top of the mountain, thanks to a green run that descended all the way down.

During our stay we had two unforgettable days: one spent horse riding and the other dog sledding through the snowy mountains. Both activities were a dream come true and things I never thought I’d get to experience!

On a relaxing afternoon, I visited the pool and hot tub and even indulged in a session at the hammam hot sauna. The spa offered views of the surrounding mountains and lake, providing a tranquil atmosphere. I was particularly impressed by the Sothys product range used at the spa.

We also had the privilege of experiencing the resort’s Exclusive Collection Space, which offered an added level of luxury.

The personal service and ambiance of the space were exceptional, with guests having exclusive access to its own bar, seating area and hot tubs, all with great views. Each evening canapés, top-shelf alcohol and French champagne were served from 6:30pm, adding to the elevated experience.

For those who may not be keen on skiing, the resort is conveniently located near various cities, making it ideal for guests wanting to explore Canadian culture.

We took a trip to Petite Riviere Saint Francois, a charming small town near the resort, full of friendly locals and unique shops ranging from gin and cider distilleries to candy stores and clothing boutiques.

My favourite excursion, however, was a half-day tour of Québec City, where our guide shared insights into its rich history during the 45-minute drive. Once there, I highly recommend wandering the streets and exploring the quirky shops that are perfect for picking up souvenirs.

Club Med Québec Charlevoix exceeded my expectations. The resort’s overall atmosphere and the range of activities left a lasting impression. From the moment I arrived, I knew this property was something special.

The 2024 VIP Trip was one of the best Club Med experiences I’ve ever had. With a clearer understanding of the ideal target demographic, I look forward to working alongside my team to promote and sell this incredible destination.
