The revolutionary design-led range has been created by Melbourne-based luggage brand July in consultation with Google and Apple.

It allows travellers to track the location of their case from their phone via an integrated, trackable TSA-approved lock – a world first.

It’s estimated about 36 million bags are mishandled globally each year and roughly 1.8 million go missing entirely.

Athan Didaskalou, co-founder of July, says CaseSafe is a game changer for travellers.

“Losing your luggage is one of the most common pain points when you travel,” said Mr Didaskalou.

“This is the beginning of a new era. First it was wheels on a suitcase, now it’s a standard. Integrated TSA locks were rare, now they come by default.

“What we’re seeing here is the first of a new standard for luggage – once your case is tracked out of the box, you can never go back. This is truly smart luggage.”

Earlier this year, July teamed up with Qantas for a limited-edition run of trackable suitcases that sold out on www.july.com within 48 hours, demonstrating the desire among travellers to have extra peace of mind on their journey.

CaseSafe brings the technology to July’s range of colourful luggage, which have become cult items on baggage claims around the world.

Didaskalou says the upgrade reflects the brand’s ambition to elevate the experience of travel through thoughtful innovation that aims to solve pain points for customers.

“We’ve always believed luggage should do more than carry your things. It should actively make travel better,” he added.

“CaseSafe continues that mission by combining world-class design with technology that simplifies and elevates the journey.”

The trackable, battery-operated lock is compatible with Apple’s ‘Find My’ and Google’s ‘Find Hub’ networks.

Retailing from $395-$495, CaseSafe is available in all of July’s core colours in Carry On, Checked and Checked Plus sizes and features the brand’s German aerospace-grade polycarbonate shell and signature SilentMove 360° spinner double wheels for effortless movement between gates, across the tarmac and even on cobblestones.

Alongside limited-edition colour drops and design-driven bags, July has expanded its footprint through collaborations that bridge travel and style, from teaming up with luxury house Oroton to creating official products for the Australian Open and the Australian Olympic Team.
