The eight-day Buffalo Ride Colombia trip, will run from August 28 to September 4, taking travellers from Cartagena to Santa Marta, with the journey designed to showcase World Bicycle Relief’s (WBR) impact on the ground.

WBR is a non-profit organisation that provides durable, locally assembled bicycles to help remove barriers to mobility in rural regions.

Highlights of the Colombia trip include cycling to Minca in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, visiting a wildlife sanctuary in the fishing village of Camarones and riding alongside World Bicycle Relief’s local team to learn firsthand about their work.

Ahead of departure, each traveller will fundraise $2,500 through The Intrepid Foundation, enough to provide 10 Buffalo Bicycles to rural communities, supporting access to education and healthcare, particularly for women and girls.

The Colombia trip follows the success of Intrepid’s inaugural Buffalo Ride Kenya, in 2025 which raised more than $40,000 and connected 14 travellers with communities benefiting from their support.

The Kenya trip will return in 2026 from May 27 to June 4, while The Intrepid Foundation has set its largest fundraising goal yet for World Bicycle Relief, after raising more than $120,000 for the organisation last year.

“We deeply believe in the power of travel to drive meaningful, lasting change,” said Biheng Zhang, General Manager of The Intrepid Foundation.

“Through our partnership with World Bicycle Relief, these fundraising trips allow travellers to see the real impact they’re helping to create – connecting with communities whose lives have been changed, while experiencing incredible destinations by bike.”

In addition to the fundraising trips, Intrepid supports the work of World Bicycle Relief through its annual Buffalo Ride, now in its fourth year.

Taking place on May 3, the global fundraising event gives riders around the world the opportunity to ride for good and raise funds to help mobilise more women and girls in rural communities through the provision of bicycles.

Travellers can find out more and secure their spot on Intrepid’s Buffalo Ride Kenya or the Buffalo Ride Colombia here (spaces are limited).

Registration for the annual Buffalo Ride event is now open and those who wish to participate can sign up here.

Donations to World Bicycle Relief can be made through The Intrepid Foundation, with Intrepid Travel dollar-matching all monthly donations.
