A new chapter has just begun on the Great Barrier Reef with the reopening of Heart Pontoon following a significant refurbishment.
The upgrade to the pontoon on Hardy Reef is part of Cruise Whitsundays’ $40 million investment into the region, which also includes the construction of a new 36-metre catamaran.
To mark the reopening a limited-time 20 per cent winter discount is available until August 31 using code WINTERGBRA20. Day adventures now start from $236 per person.
Shaun Cawood, Cruise Whitsundays General Manager, said the upgrade delivered a more comfortable and spacious reef experience.
“The complete overhaul and refurbishment has been all about making the day-reef experience even better, with more space to move both inside and out on the deck, more shade to relax in and upgraded facilities including a spacious underwater observatory and new furnishings throughout,” Mr Cawood said.

“This investment reflects our focus on continually enhancing the guest experience, ensuring every visit to the reef is engaging, seamless and truly memorable.”
The full-day Great Barrier Reef Adventure includes a scenic return cruise through the Whitsunday Islands to the outer reef, four hours at Hardy Reef with certified Master Reef Guides and snorkelling with all gear provided.
Guests can also enjoy an underwater observatory, a semi-submarine guided tour and a full day of dining including morning pastries, seafood buffet lunch and afternoon refreshments. Optional upgrades include guided snorkelling safaris, scuba diving and helicopter flights.
The reopening of Heart Pontoon also supports the evolution of Reefworld into an exclusive overnight-only experience.
Reefworld reopens July 20 exclusively for Reefsleep and Reefsuite guests, giving overnight visitors uninterrupted private use of the entire pontoon from sunrise to sunset.
