Independent travel advisors from across Australia have gathered for 1000 Mile Travel Group’s Connections event.

Held in Melbourne, it brought together 16 advisors and 26 attendees including 1000MTG team members and supplier partners for a day of collaboration, workshops and practical business discussions.

Lauren Gray, 1000MTG General Manager Australia, said face-to-face connection remained invaluable for independent businesses.

“Connections is about creating a space where advisors can share ideas, discuss challenges and learn from one another. Having honest conversations about challenges, sharing ideas and working collaboratively with our suppliers allows us to find practical solutions that benefit our network,” Ms Gray said.

A key focus of the day was the impact of Reserve Bank of Australia changes on travel business profitability, with open discussions and strategies shared among advisors.

The event also featured business updates, FY27 strategy insights, supplier education and Speed Dating sessions giving advisors the chance to connect one-on-one and exchange expertise.

Kurt Hufer, 1000MTG Independent Travel Advisor, said events like Connections filled a genuine gap for home-based advisors.

“Working from home is mostly a positive experience but you certainly miss that connection with your colleagues. Events like the Connections day give everyone a chance to meet, share experiences and learn from each other,” Mr Hufer said.

Advisors also enjoyed an inspection of host venue 1 Hotel Melbourne, followed by dinner at From Here by Mike.
