Q: What was your first job and what did you learn from it that you still use today?
A: My very first job was a work experience placement at Harvey World Travel, which eventually led to some casual work for a period of time.
During my time there, I learned the value of attention to detail – whether it was organising travel brochures in alphabetical order or ensuring bookings were accurate.
I also developed strong communication and customer service skills, all of which have stayed with me and continue to benefit my career today.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you start a new position?
A: First thing I do is learn the expectations of the role. Meet with leadership and discuss what success looks like.
After that I meet with my teammates and build positive relationships, understanding their roles, challenges and expectations. And I am always taking copious notes regarding systems and processes.
Q: What advice would you give someone wanting to start a career in travel now?
A: Do it! Starting a career in travel is a great idea! Travel has rebounded in a strong way and it is a great industry to work in with amazing opportunities to make someone’s holiday dreams come true.
Q: If you hadn’t gone into travel, what career path might you have taken?
A: I’ve always worked in the travel industry since leaving school, so this question caught me off guard.
During the pandemic I worked in retail, which I really enjoyed. However, once travel resumed, I knew I had to return to what I’m truly passionate about.
Q: How do you think the travel industry is looking at this moment in time?
A: The travel industry in 2025 is thriving with strong demand and plenty of opportunities. While rising costs are an ongoing challenge, travellers are staying flexible with their plans.
Technology is improving travel experiences, making trips more personalised and efficient. I am optimistic about the industry’s continued growth and success.
Q: Who would you most like to sit next to on a plane, living or dead?
A: My Nonna. So many questions unanswered like how did she make her gnocchi so light and fluffy? I’d love nothing more than a long-haul flight sitting next to her and discussing life.
Q: What are some of your favourite spots around the world and why?
A: I love experiencing new destinations, but I love Italy the most. Lake Como took my breath away and I recommend this destination to anyone who travels to Italy. The views, the lake, the people and the food are life changing.
I also love the ease of Bali. A great opportunity to flop and drop. I love the people, culture and food.
Noosa is also one of my favs. Being anywhere close to the ocean is always my favourite destination to travel to.
Q: What is your best travel story?
A: Last year my whole family celebrated a significant birthday for my mum in Italy. We spent some time in her hometown of Trieste.
Although I had been there many times before it felt very special to take my two boys and show them where their Nonna, my mum, was born. We spent a whole month together as a family, making memories and eating our way through some beautiful destinations.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working with Helloworld Travel (again)?
A: I’m looking forward to collaborating with the Helloworld networks and suppliers. I’m excited to build on existing relationships and explore ways to share Helloworld’s impressive value proposition.
It’s all about helping the network thrive, fostering growth and being part of the broader success story.
In the short time I have been back I’ve received such a warm response from the network – it’s been a lovely homecoming.
