Mobile Travel Agents have announced the appointment of Lesley Owen as its new Group General Manager, marking a new chapter in the company’s story.
Lesley brings more than 25 years of experience across the travel, aviation and corporate sectors, including senior leadership roles at ATPI, Voyager Travel Corporation, Virgin Blue Group of Airlines, United Airlines, and Jetset Fare Deals.
Renowned for her strategic acumen, people-first leadership and industry insight, Lesley is widely respected across the travel community for her ability to deliver results while inspiring teams and partners alike.
“I’ve admired MTA for many years,” said Lesley. “It was a true pioneer as the first mobile travel business in Australia. Built on family values, trust and the vision to empower advisors to succeed on their own terms.
“To now be part of that legacy, to help write the next chapter alongside such an extraordinary community of people, is both humbling and inspiring. MTA is a brand built on heart and courage, and I feel incredibly privileged to continue that journey.”
Her appointment follows the transition of Don Beattie, who has retired from his role as CEO after many years of outstanding leadership.
Under Don’s direction, MTA has become one of Australia’s most respected and awarded independent travel networks, admired for its innovation, values and the strong sense of family that remains at its core.
Don will continue in an advisory role, providing valuable guidance throughout this period of transition.
Helloworld announced last week that it had acquired the remaining 50 per cent stake in MTA, lifting its holding to 100 per cent of the company founded by Karen and Roy Merricks in 2000.
