In partnership with National Geographic, the evening brought together travel professionals, conservationists and media to honour Lindblad’s legacy and share exciting updates about its future.

Aussie-born Lesa Bain, Lindblad’s Vice President of Sales for North America, flew in from New York to lead the event.

She unveiled the company’s latest expansion into European river cruising, designed for travellers who want to explore art, culture and history with the same depth and authenticity as Lindblad’s polar voyages.

“Guests want to explore Europe in the same style of expedition cruising,” Ms Bain said. “They’re curious, engaged and looking for meaningful experiences.”

She also highlighted Lindblad’s unique approach to luxury travel.

“The luxury of cruising with Lindblad is getting up close and personal with wildlife. It’s about responsible exploration, immersing yourself in nature without leaving a footprint,” she added.

“It’s incredibly meaningful to be part of a company that’s helping protect the planet. I’m proud to play a role in ensuring the next generation sees the results of our conservation efforts, not just in photos, but in real life.”

Neil Rodgers, Adventure World’s Managing Director, praised Lindblad’s impact, calling them pioneering storytellers whose expert-led voyages continue to redefine expedition cruising.

The event also spotlighted Dr Greta Frankham, conservation geneticist at the Australian Museum, and her work with ShellBank, a global initiative using DNA to protect endangered marine turtles.

With Lindblad’s support, her team recently sequenced 160 green turtles in Papua New Guinea, uncovering a previously unknown genetic stock.

“This research helps us trace turtles back to their nesting grounds and protect vulnerable populations,” she said.

Kim McKay AO, Australian Museum Director and CEO, spoke to the strength of the collaboration.

“This is a true partnership between the Australian Museum, Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. Together, we are connecting science, storytelling and travel to inspire action and protect our planet.”

To support the local travel trade, Lindblad Expedition has launched a new incentive, Expedition Masters, for Australasian travel advisors.

Five winners will earn a spot on a 10-day Exploring Galápagos cruise aboard the National Geographic Gemini, departing March 20, 2026.

Advisors earn points by attending webinars, completing training modules, making bookings and joining the trade Facebook group.

The top five scorers win, with booking value used as a tiebreaker. The program runs from July 7 to October 7 and aims to educate and reward advisors while deepening their expertise in selling transformative expedition experiences.
