The Intrepid Foundation has awarded $643,596 to 13 not-for-profit organisations through its 2026 Impact Grants program, supporting projects across conservation, education, equality and community development.

The annual program invites all Intrepid Foundation partners across more than 40 countries to pitch project ideas that deepen community impact.

More than 7,000 Intrepid travellers contributed to the funding by opting to donate 1% of their trip cost when booking, with donations matched by Intrepid Travel. Individual grants ranged from $30,000 to $50,000.

Projects receiving support include a new cultural heritage and education centre in northern Tanzania, a women-led agricultural cooperative in Türkiye, marine protection work in the Andaman Sea, among 10 other projects that support communities and environments around the globe.

Casa Caridad in Spain received a €30,000 grant through a partnership with Interrail for its Espai DONA program supporting women experiencing homelessness in Valencia.

Cambodia Rural Students Trust was selected as the Travellers’ Choice recipient, with funding going towards permanent bicycle repair stations for students in Siem Reap.

“The annual Intrepid Foundation Impact Grants allow us to provide targeted, meaningful support for projects important to our Foundation partners’ standard fundraising,” said Biheng Zhang, The Intrepid Foundation General Manager.

“Thank you to our generous Intrepid travellers, over 7,000 of whom contributed this amazing result along with our friends at Interrail.

“We are so pleased to be able to support so many vital projects and further showcase the positive impact travel can have on our communities.”
