Six Senses has announced plans to open a mountain hotel and residences located close to the slopes at the Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort, at the foot of Japan’s famous Mount Myoko.

Blessed with a convenient location and high-quality snow, Myoko Kogen is enveloped in beautiful scenery, natural hot springs and a mystical charm.

With sophisticated design, wellness and a focus on local connections, the aim is to create a lifestyle destination that can be enjoyed throughout the year, reminiscent of Couchevel in France or Gstaad in Switzerland, but with the unique charm of Myoko.

Construction on Six Senses Myoko is scheduled to begin in April 2026, with the property featuring 57 guest rooms and suites (many with private onsen) and 21 branded residences.

Amenities will include two restaurants and bars, a boutique and a spa with hydrotherapy and private onsen facilities.

Six Senses Myoko will be part of a broader regional plan that includes four hotels and two commercial facilities by 2034.

Located just two hours from Tokyo by train, Myoko offers world-class skiing across 90 hectares, with an 8.5 km longest run and 13.4 metres of annual snowfall.

“Myoko Kogen is one of Japan’s oldest ski areas, offering an easily accessible and perfect blend of adventurous experiences, deep culture and stunning natural beauty,” said Neil Palmer, COO of Six Senses.

“Six Senses Myoko will breathe new life into this historic destination, transforming it into a setting for diverse and fresh experiences throughout the four seasons.”
