The flight recorded a strong load factor of 90%, reflecting robust demand for the airline’s next generation aircraft.

The A330neo, a key addition to the airline’s fleet, will progressively serve long-haul routes across Australasia and beyond, redefining the travel experience for passengers.

Yesterday’s milestone flight represents another step forward in the airline’s fleet modernisation strategy. The A330neo currently operates daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne and Auckland.

Following its arrival in Sydney, the airline hosted a joint welcome event in partnership with Sydney Airport’s corporate office, attended by Malaysia Airlines representatives and key stakeholders, followed by an exclusive tour of the new aircraft.

“By early 2026, our entire Australia network will be served exclusively by the A330neo, making it the youngest fleet in the region,” said Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group.

“This next generation aircraft not only delivers greater comfort, efficiency and sustainability, but also reflects our commitment to offering world-class service and bringing the best of Malaysian hospitality to every journey.”

Malaysia Airline’s A330neo aircraft comprises 297 seats – 28 in business class and 269 in economy, of which 24 come with extra legroom.

With a 1-2-1 herringbone configuration, the newly designed business class seats will be a first for the group, featuring an all-suite cabin with individual privacy doors which prioritises cabin comfort and practicality.

In the spirit of Malaysian hospitality, all passengers on board the inaugural flight received a special welcome gift. Pre-departure festivities included a Suprise & Delight experience, where two lucky passengers were upgraded to business class.
